How long does it take to complete an album?
It generally takes between 4 to 6 weeks to complete an album. Of course this time frame depends on the size of the project, the intricacy of the design and the clients schedule.
What if I need the album rushed?
I understand that there are special occasions (i.e. graduation, Christmas, Mother’s Day) that you may want an album specifically made for. I will do my best to accommodate you and to insure that special day is extra special with the presence of your scrapbook.
Is it possible to see part of the scrapbook before the book is complete?
Absolutely! It is my practice to photograph the first couple of pages so you can view them via email. This way you and I can both be assured that I am doing the job to your specifications.
How many photos fit on a page?
Generally 3 to 5 photos will fit nicely on a 12x12 page. If the pictures can be cropped to smaller sizes, then more can fit on a page. Smaller size albums can accommodate fewer pictures per page. For example, a 7x7 page can only hold one 4x6 photo.
Do all my pictures have to be permanently set in my scrapbook?
No. Although it is best to permanently mount your pictures, there are some pictures (such as heritage photos or special wedding portraits) that you may want the option of temporarily removing at a later date. In this case the alternative would be to use photo corners. Photo corners allow for the safe and long term keeping of a photo and yet will enable you to safely remove it and then put it back.
Will you “crop” or trim my pictures?
That’s up to you. These are your pictures and you have the final say. Sometimes it is ideal to cut the “nothingness” out of a picture, yet other times it is more preferable to leave the picture in its entirety. I can advise you on would be most appropriate for a specific layout, but ultimately the decision is yours. It’s all about what you want! I want to do everything to make your album exactly as you envisioned it.
What is journaling?
Journaling is the story of your pictures and is very personal. It’s up to you to decide the amount of “storytelling” you would like, if any at all.
Journaling can be computer-generated, or handwritten on the page. Computer-generated journaling is printed out on your pages using photo safe ink. If you choose this method you will type out your journaling and email it to me. I will add the appropriate font and font size, and then arrange it to compliment the page. If you prefer to hand write your journaling, I will leave a journaling box for you to write your story once the album is completed.
We will discuss your journaling preferences before any work is done on your album.
What if I don’t live in or near Colorado Springs?
Not a problem! Today’s technology is wonderful and I have seen virtually no difference in product outcome or timeframe. With shipping companies like Fed Ex and UPS we can use tracking systems to insure that your scrapbook will arrive safely. With the use of email and phone conversation I can accomplish projects worldwide.
What do acid-free, lignin-free and archival-quality mean?
Paper that is made from a wood base pulp contains lignin and over time will deteriorate and the acid will turn the paper yellow. You may remember those "magnetic" albums. They were not acid-free and often times turned yellow and in turn caused damage to the photos set in them. Precautions are taken during the production of these wood base paper and products to neutralize the natural acids producing an acid-free, lignin-free and photo-safe material. Paper that is acid-free can also be made from other fibers that do not contain lignin. Archival-quality refers to the product’s ability for long-term preservation. I use acid-free and lignin-free materials in the making of your scrapbook, from the paper and the adhesives to the ink and the stickers. It is my passion to insure that your photos will last for generations to come. |
